Hockey Coaching Requirements

USA Hockey & CAHA Coaching Requirements (California)

Anyone coaching, assisting on the ice, or standing on the bench during games or practices is required to complete all certifications listed below. Please email all completed items to jen@icerealm.com before participating in any team activities.

1. USA Hockey Registration (Annual)

Register as a coach to obtain your current USA Hockey membership number.

2. USA Hockey Background Screening

Required for all adults 18+.

3. SafeSport Training (Annual)

Mandatory for all coaches, managers, and on-ice volunteers.

4. CAHA Anti-Bullying & Harassment Policy

Required for all coaches and volunteers.
Use the attached CAHA policy and training documentation.

5. Concussion Education – California Requirement

Completion of the CDC HEADS UP concussion training is mandatory.

6. USA Hockey Coaching Education Program (CEP)

All coaches must complete their CEP level clinic and all required age-specific modules.
