Our league goes beyond just providing games—it's a developmental pathway designed for Junior High players aiming to reach JV and Varsity high school hockey. With a focus on foundational skills, team play, and game awareness, players grow in a structured and supportive environment.

Eligibility-All teams are district-bound, meaning players are assigned based on their home address to their local district program. For example, the Warriors will operate the Orange County district team, while players in LA or the Inland Empire will join their respective district clubs.Players are required to play within their districts.

League Format & Rules

  • 15 regular season games

  • All players need current 2025-26 USA Hockey Membership 
  • USA Hockey Rules (Tag up off-sides)
  • No OT in regular season
  • Music player NHL Style
  • Game Format: Three 15-minute run-time periods (3-Min Warm-up) (No timeouts)

  • If the game is within 1 goal with 2 minutes left in the third period, the game will go to stop time

  • Rink reserve the right for running time (1-hour ice slot) 

  • All players must be registered and approved by league- Coach to verify and sign scoresheet each game

  • Rinks: Ice Realm Westminster, LA Kings Riverside Icetown, and possible other local partner arenas

  • All-Star Game: Date and format TBD

  • Championship Game: Top two teams compete

What are the benefits of Jr High Hockey?

Jr. High Hockey has never existed in Southern California before. The main benefit is to prepare players for the rigors of JV and Varsity high school, and to add extra ice time for those playing club level hockey. This league is meant to compliment, not compete, with club hockey.

Where will the games be played?

Ice Realm Westminster and IceTown Riverside, with the possibility of other local rinks.

How do we know which team to play for in our district.

Are There Tryouts?

No tryouts unless a member club already scheduled theirs. There is a free interest skate scheduled for Saturday August 23 at 3:40pm at Ice Realm Westminster. Please Click Here to Register. 

What is the level of play?

Jr. High Hockey is open to co-ed club and rec level players. Prior experience is preferred.

How long is the season?

The season begins the weekend after Labor Day and will conclude in January. An All Star Game will be announced at a future date.
