St. John Bosco Prep Hockey Program Announces New Leadership and Integrated Development Structure Under Jeremy Blumes
Blumes will continue as Head Coach and General Manager of the Ontario Jr. Reign while overseeing the San Diego Sabers and Bosco Prep Hockey programs.
BELLFLOWER, Calif. — St. John Bosco High School is proud to announce the next phase of growth for its hockey program, naming Jeremy Blumes as President of Hockey Operations – Elite Stream under Ice Realm Hockey. In this role, Blumes will oversee the continued development and long-term growth of Bosco Hockey while aligning it within a broader player development pathway that includes the Ontario Jr. Reign and San Diego Sabers junior programs.
Blumes will continue serving as Head Coach and General Manager of the Ontario Jr. Reign while also providing leadership and oversight for the San Diego Sabers and Bosco Prep Hockey programs, creating a unified structure designed to support long-term player development and advancement.
This structure creates a clear development model for student-athletes that includes the Bosco Prep program, the San Diego Sabers junior team, and the Ontario Jr. Reign, giving players the opportunity to progress through a unified system focused on development, advancement, and long-term success in the game.
Blumes brings more than 20 seasons of experience as a player, coach, scout, consultant, and league executive. His programs have become known nationally for their structure, competitiveness, and consistent track record of advancing players to higher levels of the game, including NCAA programs, professional leagues, and junior hockey.
Over the past four seasons, Blumes has led the Ontario Jr. Reign to a 137-39-6 record, a run that has included a division championship, national rankings, and steady advancement of players to junior, college, and professional opportunities. That competitive success and advancement track record now forms the foundation of Bosco Hockey’s long-term vision — creating a clear pathway for players who aspire to pursue elite academics while advancing to higher levels of hockey.
Blumes noted that the opportunity to help lead Bosco Hockey was particularly compelling because of the school’s nationally recognized reputation and long-standing tradition of excellence.
“St. John Bosco is an extraordinary institution,” said Blumes. “The school’s academic reputation, its history of developing high-character young men, and its track record of producing alumni who go on to succeed at the highest levels of athletics and professional life made this an opportunity that was impossible to ignore. When you combine that foundation with outstanding facilities, a passionate school community, and the leadership already in place within the hockey program, it creates an environment where student-athletes can truly thrive.”
The school itself is widely respected as one of the premier academic institutions in the United States, with a proud tradition of athletic excellence. Bosco alumni have gone on to compete at the highest levels of sport, including the NFL and Major League Baseball.
Southern California also offers a unique environment for player development. With year-round training opportunities, high-performance facilities, and access to elite coaching resources, the region has become an increasingly popular destination for players from across North America seeking to combine serious hockey development with a world-class academic experience.
St. John Bosco enters this next phase from a position of strength, as the Prep program captured the ADHSHL championship under the experienced coaching staff of Head Coach Tomas Kapusta and Sergio Movilla. Kapusta, a former Olympian and longtime professional player, brings extensive international playing experience and a deep understanding of player development to the program.
“This is an exciting step for Bosco Hockey,” said Ben Frank, President of Ice Realm Hockey. “Jeremy has a proven track record of building winning programs where families are genuinely thrilled with their sons’ experiences. His ability to combine high standards, clear structure, and genuine care for players makes him the right leader to guide our program.”
“Our goal is to create an environment where players can pursue elite academics while receiving the structure, coaching, and exposure necessary to move on to higher levels of hockey,” Blumes said.
Off the ice, Blumes emphasizes leadership development, community engagement, and personal growth — values that align closely with Bosco’s mission. His programs consistently stress accountability, service, and preparing young men for success beyond the rink.
As Bosco Hockey moves into this next phase, families and alumni can expect continued communication as the program evolves and the long-term vision takes shape.
The expanded structure positions Bosco Hockey as one of the few programs in the country offering a fully integrated development structure built around elite academics, structured player development, and advancement to higher levels of the game.
As part of the program’s continued growth, Bosco Hockey will host the Bosco Prep Development Camp April 24–26 at Ice Realm Westminster. The three-day camp will give players the opportunity to experience the Bosco development environment firsthand, including high-tempo practices, structured competition, performance analysis, and direct interaction with the coaching staff. Families will also have the opportunity to learn more about St. John Bosco’s academic environment and the program’s integrated prep hockey model.
Built on Faith. Driven by Purpose. Developed the Right Way.
